Windows Live Messenger Beta:
The Name Promised many Things apart from the looks. But seems that looks are all that user gets. I was not impressed with all the trouble I took to try it out.(I had to resort to other methods as I still do not have an Invite) The interface is clumsy with an AJAX feel. People do not get displayed as online when they are online…I checked this out with my room mate. Added to this there are ADS!!! For gods sake who’s gonna bear that in a messenger. Imagine ads in a messenger
. Neways for those who are not lucky enough to get an invite or those who would still like to check it out themselves here’s the Story:
First you need to download a copy of Windows Live Messenger installer. Though Microsoft does not disclose the download link but some kind souls revealed it. Here you are, the link to Download Windows Live Messenger . (See update)
Launch Windows Live Messenger
After you have downloaded and installed the Windows Live Messenger, you will realise that you cannot sign in it! Dont worry, it has beendesigned to block you (non-beta testers). It is closed beta, remember?

- Now, we need to use a downgrader to bypass it. Download and install MSNP13 Downgrader (A-Patch).
- Then, launch Windows Explorer and navigate to
C:\Program Files\MSN MessengerSee the MSNlaunch icon? Double-click it to launch MSNP13 downgrader and Windows Live Messenger at the same time. - The MSNP13 downgrader will bypass the Windows Live Messenger beta tester check and sign you into the MSN instant messenger network. You’re done!
Note: Since you need to run MSNlaunch to launch Windows Live Messenger, I recommend you put a shortcut icon on desktop for easy access.
Update: Windows Live Messenger is no longer under beta. You should be able to directly download it using Windows Live Essentials pack.
