Crysis is a fitting successor to the Far Cry which was arguably one of the most advanced and aesthetically pleasing open ended FPS. Crysis is a Sci-Fi FPS game for the PC, where mankind must struggle to survive in the face of an alien invasion. It’s based on CryENGINE2 which is one of the first engines to use the Direct3D 10 (DirectX10) framework introduced with Windows Vista. It also runs using DirectX 9 on both Vista and XP. CryENGINE2 is the successor to CryENGINE on which Far Cry was based.

I was hooked when I first watched the developer video of this game a few months back showing volumetric clouds, shadows and a jungle environment with which you can interact. Crysis Demo was first released on October 26th in which we get to play the first three levels of this eagerly awaited game. It begins with a radio call for help from a science team on a remote island. Already sites like Toms Hardware are testing their latest gaming rigs on this demo.
