Google Finance: MTA?

Everyone knows MIA(Missing In Action). So whats MTH? Missing The Action. Thats what exactly Google Finance is doing. Google Finance India or the lack of it, is going to be a big blow for Google as other competing services like Yahoo Finance already hold the majority of the market in this segment. They have no mention of it anywhere, not even on their Google Finance Blog.
Indian Stock Market seems to be the place where all the current action is. Beating China and attracting FII’s is contributing greatly in India reaching a historic sensex milestone of 20000 points. The sensex journey from 5000 to 20000 is as follows:
20,000 - Oct 29,2007
19,000 - Oct 15,2007
18,000 - Oct 9,2007
17,000 - Sep 26,2007
16,000 - Sep 19,2007
15,000 - July 6,2007
14,000 - Dec 5,2006
13,000 - Oct 30,2006
12,000 - Apr 20,2006
11,000 - Mar 21,2006
10,000 - Feb 6,2006
9,000 - Nov 28,2005
8,000 - Sep 8,2005
7,000 - Jun 20,2005
6,000 - Feb 11,2000
5,000 - Oct 8,1999
The year 2007 has been a dream run for Indian Stock market as it has risen from nearly 14000 points to 20000 points. It also saw the fastest rise of 1000 points from 18000 to 19000. Foreign investors seeing India as a strong and stable market insulated from the world financial storms has led to this strange but welcome addition wealth.
Yahoo Finance India has been the only provider for live quotes free of charge. While Google has been reporting other improvements like API, Gadgets and pricing data for Australia and New Zealand it is still missing the bigger pie. Google finance is often cited as an example of an unsuccessful foray into a web service beyond web search.
To top it all, Google Finance is one of the rare Google products developed entirely offshore. It is developed in India at its Bangalore center. It is hilarious that it is not able to provide quotes for the Indian market.
